The Vow is the most successful romantic drama since Pearl Harbor
61The Vow-Channing Tatum
The Vow brings in the 2nd most on opening weekend in the Romantic Drama genre
The much anticipated film The Vow, which was released on February 10, 2012, brought in $41.7M its opening weekend. That is the 2nd best opening weekend for a Romantic drama in the past 30 years, next to Pearl Harbor which brought in over $59M.
Dear John, starring Channing Tatum, ranks 3rd place bringing in $30.4M and skipping to 5th place is The Time Traveler's Wife, starring Rachel McAdams which brought in $18.6M.
This much is clear- Romantic dramas usually don't bring in as much on their opening weekend as action films or thrillers, yet when it's a romantic film with either Channing Tatum or Rachel McAdams there is some stiff competition.
This box office hit is based on the life of Kim and Krickett Carpenter, who were in a car accident two months into their marriage which altered Krickett's personality and memory. It was their amazing faith in Jesus Christ that gave Kim the motivation to continue trying to make Krickett fall in love with him.
